Applying for WIOA

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding for education and training to eligible individuals to enhance their current skills or learn a new trade.

Whether you are a current student, interested in going to school for the first time, returning to school to increase your education, interested in obtaining your GED, or in obtaining a CDL License, review the information carefully.

Do you live in, or have been laid off from employment in one of these counties?

Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, or White

If not, you will need to find the WorkSource Center serving your area. To do so, go to:

Step 1: Watch the Overview Session

 Please watch the Overview Session.  This details the grant and discusses eligibility and suitability

Step 2: Complete An Assessment

NOTE: This is NOT the application!

If you have selected a school and program, to assess your eligibility for our career services, we need more information. Please fill out the online assessment form. You can download a printable version if you cannot complete it on your mobile device or computer. For additional help, call our office at (770) 538-2727.

Step 3: Register for WorkSource Portal State ID

NOTE: This is NOT the application!

Create your account to obtain your WorkSource Portal State ID Number. The WorkSource Portal lets you explore current job openings, upload your resume, access career guidance, look for training and educational programs, and find information about local employers. After registering, you’ll receive an ID to include in your WIOA Training Application. You can download instructions to assist you with the registration process.

Step 4: Qualify for Assistance

Upon reviewing your assessment, a representative from our office will contact you to verify your information. At that time, we will determine if you could qualify for assistance through the WIOA program.

Please feel free to reach out to our office if you have not been contacted 5 business days (Monday – Friday) following the submittal of your initial assessment form.

WIOA is limited in providing services only to those who meet specific requirements. That means, unfortunately, we cannot help everyone who applies under this program. Our ability to provide training requires funding to be available and for individuals to meet each of the following criteria:

  • You are eligible under WIOA rules;

  • You reside in our service areas – Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, or White;

  • You have selected training                                               that meets our requirements; and

  • You have the necessary qualifications to complete training and obtain a training related job.

Step 5: Complete WIOA Training Application

Once our team has determined you qualify for WIOA services we will send you the WIOA Training Application and request documentation. Please see the below links for more information regarding how to complete the application.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Step 6: Interview with a Case Manager

Once your application is complete, it will be reviewed by a Case Manager. If he/she believes you are suitable for our program, he/she schedule an interview with you and proceed with enrollment into the WIOA program.
